Judith read to kids and their parents at Quail Ridge Books on June 5 and delivered a lecture, "Loves, Losses, and Wicked Thoughts," to adults only on June 6 at Peace College.
Judith was also presented with the inaugural Lucy Daniels Award for her outstanding contributions to children's literature that supports social and emotional health. The award citation was read by Center Executive Director, Don Rosenblitt, while Lucy Daniels, Ph.D. presented the award to Ms. Viorst.
The award is based on the Lucy's Book Club logo, designed by Carol Nix of NIXDesign. and was interpreted into a 3-D stainless steel sculpture by Matt McConnell of McConnell Studios. The logo depicts a parent and child snuggled together reading a book.
