The Inaugural Cooking For A Classic, our newest fund raiser, was a terrific success. Guests of the event enjoyed night after night of incredible dining, and were part of the fun when they voted for the chef who would move on to the next round. The voting, along with our celebrity judges, helped decide which chef advanced.
After 15 events, with a grand finale night on April 10, the event raised about $80,000 for the Lucy Daniels Center, and increased awareness in the community of our programs and services.
We made lots of new friends, worked with some incredibly talented people, and had a great time doing it. The winner of the contest was Rich Carter from Catering Works right here in Raleigh … but we met chefs from all over North Carolina who contributed their time and talents to the cause.
Thank you to all the guests, our in-kind donors, but most especially Rocky Top Hospitality, MOJO Performance Partners, and WRAL Out and About, our event sponsors, for helping us make this first Cooking for a Classic a great success.
